The recently released 5.4 version of the Morpheus platform includes a number of new governance policies for users upgrading from the previous LTS release version (5.2.x) of the platform. This release adds reconfigure and delete approval policies to require approvals for reconfiguring or deleting workloads in the Morpheus platform.
Self-service enables large organizations to move quickly without the need for every request to be manually handled by IT but there is a need for oversight in certain conditions. Approvals provide a basic guardrail to ensure that there is a sign-off for identified operations whether it is an automated approval for request with inputs within a defined range or a manual approval based upon cost or configuration.
The Morpheus platform supports approvals using the internal approval engine or via an ITSM integration such as ServiceNow. The ServiceNow integration allows organizations that have built out approval workflow logic in ServiceNow to leverage their existing investment.
The new reconfigure approval policy enables administrators to require an approval for reconfigure operations. An example would be requiring an approval for requests to change the number of processors on a production workload.
Similar to the reconfigure approval policy, the new reconfigure approval policy enables administrators to require an approval for deletion operations. An example would be requiring an approval when a user wants to delete a production workload.
The addition of the reconfigure and deletion approval policies to the Morpheus platform enables governance for additional phases of the workload’s lifecycle.
