Leaders are Dealers of Hope: Cloud Field Day 17 Recap

By: Zuzu Wheeler

Taking on a challenge is a lot like riding a horse, isn’t it? If you’re comfortable while you’re doing it, you’re probably doing it wrong.”

We have a soft spot for all things Ted Lasso. While the show revolves around football, the lessons can be applied to many aspects of life – including for IT teams. Lessons like “get comfortable with being uncomfortable” and “leaders are dealers of hope” are relevant to what Morpheus brings to the tech table. In an ever-evolving landscape, teams need to be flexible and eager to learn, even whilst feeling uncomfortable. And as a named leader by Gartner and Forrester, Morpheus is proven to deal hope to those seeking to get the most from their platform engineering, along with bringing teams together to achieve agility and efficiency.

At the end of May this year, we were privileged to present at our 5th Cloud Field Day in Boston. This event is always a treat for us, especially when the esteemed delegates get the conversations flowing past our live presentation. This year we gave our Morpheus 101 overview and a rundown of our foundation, and split the rest of the time between a couple topics growing in IT importance every day: Plugins and Scaling Automation and IaC via Self-Service.

Morpheus Data 101:

Teamwork really is the dream work! Piggy backing off the Ted Lasso reference, we pride ourselves in delivering a platform that will help developers, finance, security, and operations teams come together to achieve time saved, money saved, and overall ease of work when it comes to their IT landscape. After all, isn’t technology supposed to make our lives easier?

Morpheus Foundation: Developer Self-Service and Platform Operations:

There have been some important changes with the Morpheus platform since our last Field Day! In this demo by our CTO, David Estes, we go over the new and the improved with everything self-service provisioning. From our customizable dashboard to new Terraform capabilities, it’s no wonder more enterprises and service providers rely on us for enabling DevOps speed and agility, all with the comfort of role-based access control. Watch to get the lowdown on how easy it is to integrate with all your clouds with Morpheus.

Morpheus Data Plugins: Extensibility for Hybrid Cloud Platform Operations:

Our plugin framework is arguably what makes Morpheus so special; it provides an integration point that allows us to be extensible and enable additional functionality. This underlying service delivery framework allows you to extend your reporting capability, extend the Morpheus UI, and add support for new infrastructure integrations, like IPAM and DNS. We also encourage our customers to engage with each other to discover new capabilities and pitch solutions at https://discuss.morpheusdata.com!

Morpheus Data Workflows: Scaling Automation and IaC via Self-Service:

In this session, Martez Reed covers the various ways of automating tasks, and what challenges we often see people go through to achieve business value. How can you enable users to accomplish what they need to as quickly and efficiently as possible? There’s the ongoing challenge of cloud skills gap, and consuming automation through self-service with Morpheus helps users to bridge that gap and get the most optimal experience they can when provisioning.

We saw a lot of common trends across the entire Cloud Field Day, notably around VMware and Kubernetes. We loved reading everyone’s thoughts on the trends and on the event; listed below are some insightful reactions to the Morpheus presentation:
