Morpheus is looking for a driven Senior Sales Engineer to pair with a sales leader in an existing territory. The ideal candidate has experience building pipelines, selling to CXOs, and closing enterprise IT deals. You’ll work an existing pipeline in addition to developing opportunities within your own network, through our partners, and with our alliances.  In this role you will help achieve sales and revenue goals, evaluate technical requirements of new sales opportunities, and develop technical solutions that successfully meet the needs of prospective customers.  You’ll guide practical workshops and deep-dive demonstrations of our offerings, deliver proofs of concept, and assist customers in post-sales to ensure customer success.

As a Senior Sales Engineer, you will also work with our ecosystem of 80+ integrations and applications including OpenStack, VMware, AWS, ServiceNow, Jenkins, Ansible, and more. You must have a practical understanding of cloud computing architecture with experience designing, deploying, and operating self-service provisioning and software automation. Experience both as a vendor and end-user customer are a plus to gain credibility when working alongside others undertaking digital transformation projects.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sales strategies
  • Lead meetings, workshops and other activities aimed at discovery and solution design
  • Present solutions and technical proposals to existing and prospective customers via multiple avenues including demonstrations, white-boarding, written proposals, and verbally (video and in-person)
  • Respond to RFIs and RFPs
  • Lead proofs of concept, evaluations, and benchmarks
  • Contribute to the team by sharing knowledge, documenting customer success stories, helping maintain the team lab environment, and participating in team initiatives
  • Participate in internal meetings with Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, Channel, and other teams to provide product, presentation, demo, or other crucial feedback and improve our processes
  • Develop and enable engineering and pre-sales contacts within the partner ecosystem
  • Own and meet a revenue quota; perform regular reviews and reports about the opportunities in your territory
  • Facilitate regular communication between partners, Morpheus product teams, customers, and field sales teams

What it takes to do the job

  • 5+ years of experience working with a top-tier systems vendor or customer, either in cloud architecture, sales engineering, or a solutions architect role.  Application development, virtualization and datacenter automation experience are a plus.  Technical selling in cloud solutions and IaaS/PaaS is strongly preferred.
  • The ability to position end-to-end solutions and articulate aligned business strategies to customer executives
  • The ability to create demand, budgets, urgency, and advocates with customer executives.
  • A proven track record in managing and winning major opportunities, with the ability to work unsupervised
  • The ability to interact as a value-added team member and to contribute back to Morpheus to raise performance for the whole team
  • The ability to work with an sales leader to manage a long and complex sales cycle that includes both product and services
  • Expertise in virtualization, ITSM, CI/CD, configuration management, and other automation technologies
  • Understanding of core compute, storage, and networking topology and devices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable giving presentations and speaking in front of an audience
  • Willingness to travel 25% to 50%, mostly within a limited geographical area with occasional travel to other regions
  • Skills in basic programming fundamentals and experience with Ruby, Python, Java, PHP, Git, Bash, or Powershell is a plus

The ideal candidate will be located in the Washington, D.C. area, but considerations will be made for other government-focused geographies.  A US Security Clearance is a plus – please provide in your resume.
