Morpheus Data is a rapidly expanding Denver based enterprise software company focused on multi-cloud management and DevOps workflow orchestration. Our mission is to help customers achieve their full potential and realize the dream of self-service automation for any app across any cloud or platform – on-premises or public clouds. To support our growing list of integrations, we are looking for a Director of Information Technology to manage our team that oversees Morpheus’ internal lab and IT systems; this is a hands-on working engineer role with some managing oversight.

This position is for you if you possess a practical understanding of cloud computing architecture and DevOps processes with experience deploying, supporting, and automating infrastructure tools and frameworks. You are detail-oriented and play an essential role in driving availability, architecture, and expansion of over 75+ integrations in Morpheus. You are automation-focused and create in-depth technical documentation to properly install software and integrate solutions for use by our management platform. You have experience understanding technical architectures that allow you to troubleshoot any environment logically. You have architectural knowledge integrating full application  stacks, including network, storage, compute, security, databases, and application runtime frameworks. You can create and solve uncommon problems hosting both old and new technologies in both on-premise data centers and public cloud hosting providers. Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies, containers, configuration management, security, and ITSM tools are critical as you are supporting Morpheus’ Engineering teams including OpenStack, VMware, Docker/Kubernetes, Ansible, ServiceNow, and more. Experience creating automation to deploy and manage heterogeneous systems is a must.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Provide excellent leadership through mentoring the IT team, supporting our engineering, quality assurance, sales, and workforce teams.
  • Performance management of direct reports, manages budget expenditure of technology expenses, recommends new vendors and contract bids for projects, and approves work resulting in downtime.
  • Acts as point of contact for all information technology related issues while delivering new infrastructure services, enhancements, and other technical improvements in an Agile setting.
  • Resolve support issues related to lab infrastructure, WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, security, and remote access solutions.
  • Oversee security posture and compliance-related reporting, remediating vulnerabilities, and other findings as necessary.
  • Architect, automate, and support enterprise-scale solutions utilizing emerging platforms and technologies, working with stakeholders and knowledge experts.
  • Assist as necessary with any other assigned duties that may arise
  • On-premise data centers work is performed in Denver, CO, if you live outside of Denver; some travel is required as needed and estimated at 20%.

 Qualifications:

 You’ll need these to survive:

  • Ten or more years of work experience.
  • Two or more years of managing others.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience including cloud infrastructure.
  • Four or more years of infrastructure management automation using configuration management or automated solutions.
  • Five or more years of Linux and Windows server administration experience.
  • Infrastructure engineering and architecture knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, using different communication and collaboration tools like phone, text, email, chat, and web conferencing tools.
  • Ability to problem solve under pressure and create new exciting solutions.

You’ll have an even better experience with these:

  • You containerize everything unless there is a good reason not to.
  • Strong system administration coding skills in languages like Bash, PowerShell, Perl, Ruby, Python, or Go. You’ll get along with the developers better if you know Rust, Groovy, Scala, or Nodejs.
  • Practioner of Infrastructure as Code concepts and tooling like Azure Resource Management Templates, AWS CloudFormation, Helm, or Terraform.
  • Expert of a configuration management tool such as Chef, Ansible, Puppet, Windows DSC, etc.
  • Curiosity and a desire to learn and try new things, we add new stuff regularly.

You’ll move to the top of the list if you do all the above using Morpheus.

The ideal candidate will be located in Denver, although other locations considered based on the strength of matching job requirements.
